The teachers at Days of Wonder preschool believe that the early years of children’s lives are most critical when it comes to their development. They are growing and learning at a magnificent rate. We believe that it is very important to have a child in an environment that is consistent, secure, loving and intellectually stimulating. We want our preschoolers to feel as comfortable and secure as they would in their own homes with their parents or caregivers.
We provide a safe, comfortable, stimulating, fun, and educational environment with a structured day plan. We feel that children learn the best through a combination of guided and undirected creative play. Daily activities will include free play time outside and inside, structured work time using educational centers, gross motor skills and activities, story time, arts and crafts, music and dance, and other fun educational activities.
Children will have the opportunity to work at our educational centers where they will learn about color, shapes, numbers, patterns, letters, animals, basic science, and much more. They will engage in child-led art projects as well as music and movement enrichment. Each child will be able to learn at his or her own pace without pressure to learn something faster than he or she is able to.
Meet our wonderful preschool teachers:
My name is Amanda and I live in Felicity with my husband of 17 years and our five children. I started teaching at Days of Wonder in 2014. I started as assistant in preschool and quickly moved into the role of teacher. I cannot even begin to express how much I love this opportunity and my preschoolers. They bring me so much joy and I love to help them learn and discover more and more each day about our world and themselves.

**A WORD ABOUT ACADEMICS – The trend in our country today is to push 3 and 4 year olds to learn and memorize letters and numbers. However, child development specialists say that many children are not ready and the methods used are not effective or appropriate.
At DOW Preschool, numbers will be presented through multiple effect modalities. At the “letter center” and “word center”, children will work with letters through multi-sensory activities such as tracing letters in sand and rolling out their name in clay. When this method is used, children learn and remember letters and numbers more effectively.
The preschool children will be having phonemic awareness lessons on a daily basis. This provides an important foundation that must be in place before formal phonics instruction. Learning letters and numbers in this way, children learn and remember them better and are more prepared for kindergarten!
